The role of sustainability at ports: a survey

February 26, 2018

Interdisciplinary PhD student Mehrnaz Ashrafi at Dalhousie University is researching the extent to which ports recognize the importance of sustainability. She is conducting a survey of what ports have done in terms of initiatives, strategies, practices and activities to improve their sustainability as key links in global transportation chains. Her research will help the maritime industry to prepare for Canada’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in all economic sectors, which includes greener transportation options that support economic growth while reducing environmental and social impacts. We encourage all our port authority members in Canada and the United States to take part in the survey through this link to Opinio, a secure Dalhousie web server that ensures the confidentiality of responders. Any further questions can be forwarded directly to mehrnaz@ashrafi@dal.ca
