STQ’s Lévis ferry terminal becomes LEED certified

2The Société des traversiers du Québec (STQ), Quebec’s ferry service, has obtained LEED Canada NC (New Construction) certification at the Silver level for its Lévis ferry terminal servicing the Quebec City-Lévis route. The ferry terminal is now among the buildings that have received the prestigious international honour representing sustainable and environmentally friendly construction.

A number of sustainable design principles were incorporated into the new terminal’s construction which responds to the forefront of environmental performance standards. The integration of local, ecological, and recycled materials, the careful management of construction waste, as well as the reduced consumption of energy and potable water are just some of the project’s highlights.
