Green Marine shortlisted for Lloyd’s List Awards 2015

Green Marine has been named as a finalist for the Lloyd’s List North American Maritime Awards 2015 to be presented February 18th in Houston.

The Green Marine environmental program was selected from an international pool of nominees as one of six finalists for the Environmental Excellence Award.

McAsphalt Industries Hamilton terminal lauded for environmental leadership

Hamilton Port Authority (HPA) bestowed its annual Environmental Excellence Award to McAsphalt Industries, Hamilton Terminal. McAsphalt directs the $5,000 donation from annual award to Cootes Paradise restoration at Royal Botanical Gardens. The annual award recognizes a port partner’s contribution to respecting and protecting the natural environment.

Port Everglades Joins Green Marine Program to Expand Environmental Performance

Broward County, FL – Broward County’s Port Everglades, Florida’s leading container port, is expanding its environmental efforts by signing on as a participant with Green Marine, the largest voluntary environmental program for the maritime industry in North America. As one of South Florida’s leading economic powerhouses, Port Everglades is the gateway for international trade and cruise vacations. Already among the three busiest cruise ports in the world, Port Everglades is also one of the nation’s leading container ports and South Florida’s main seaport for receiving petroleum products including gasoline, jet fuel and alternative fuels.

Federal Tyne receives a five-star rating

One of Fednav’s vessels has earned a perfect rating with the ship-vetting experts at RightShip. The Federal Tyne received a five-star risk rating, a five-star environmental rating, and a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions rating of A+ in October 2014.

Port of Longview joins Green Marine

CSL St-Laurent begins maiden voyage

The CSL St-Laurent – the second of two new Trillium Class Great Lakes bulk carriers built for Canada Steamship Lines (CSL) – was delivered on November 26, and began her maiden voyage on December 13th. The bulk carrier departed from the Yangfan shipyard on Zhoushan Island in China, en route to Canada for operation throughout the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River.

CSL supports beluga research through WWF-Canada

Founding Green Marine member and participant Canada Steamship Lines (CSL) has ‘adopted’ a beluga whale to support long-term research towards solving problems affecting this endangered specie. The adoption coincides with CSL’s new $100,000 commitment to WWF-Canada over the next two years towards research.
