Green Marine’s environmental program continues, year after year, to demonstrate its effectiveness and its ability to inspire participants to exceed regulatory requirements. Environmental performance results are on the raise, continuously improving since Green Marine’s first year of reporting, in 2008. You can access our participants’ latest results in one click on our interactive map.
Green Marine requires participants to adopt practices and technologies that will have a direct impact on the field. The progress that participants make in this respect is evaluated on a scale of 1 to 5 with the help of performance indicators, which are defined in the environmental program’s annual self-evaluation guides.
See the 2013 Performance report with all participants’ individual results released during GreenTech 2014 in Saint John, NB, on June 11th.
Results are based on a scale of 1 to 5 evaluated against performance indicators in nine key areas, where Level 1 represents regulatory monitoring and 5, leadership and excellence.
|Green Marine Criteria|
|Level 1||Regulatory monitoring|
|Level 2||Systematic use of a defined number of best practices|
|Level 3||Integration of best practices into an adopted management plan and quantifiable understanding of environmental impacts|
|Level 4||Introduction of new technologies|
|Level 5||Excellence and leadership|
The Green Marine environmental certification program is tailor-made for all sectors of the marine transportation industry with specific performance indicators for port, terminals, shipyards, Seaway corporations and shipowners.
